Not to reduce the validity of the Captain's accomplishments, but the Apache has a maximum loaded weight (including fuel) of 6,000 pounds, of which the pilot had 1,200 rounds of gun ammo, 70 rockets, and perhaps a few Hellfire missiles.
I'll have to read the book as I'm curious as to whether she was enough in the shit to usefully use all that ammo, or if Captain Madison was just a bad shot. :>
