Awesome! I hope the Clash plays at the British event.

"The sharif don't like it!! Rocking the Casbah! Rocking the Casbah!!!"

This feels like a "the devil you know is better than one you don't" situation.

Egypt's been one of the few Middle Eastern countries not causing us agita.

I'm not too terribly keen on a platform of "sure you're a dictator, but we'd be better dictators"

Michael

Yeah, that's all well and good if you're not Egyptian.

I do see your point.

The trick is to support the rise of a largely secular, non-sectarian, democratic political opposition - including, wait for it, the leftists.

Or so I was just told at the demo. 8^) Very cool. Nice people - nothing whatsoever in common with me other than this. ("Just got back from Palestine..." "Too bad Saturday conflicts with the student/anti-cuts demo...") But really nice people. I ended up holding a placard in front - hope to be on the front page of something tomorrow.

Michael

Oh, yeah, and the Saturday noon demo is definitely on. Should be a lot bigger than today's. Let me know if you want to go!

Michael

Some photos from the demo:

(You can just make me out in the 4th one.)
