Where the banshees live and they do live well!"
So after my various long-distance walks around the UK, undertaken for no better purpose than to amuse myself, I'm now doing my first sponsored walk for charity: the Help for Heroes Hero Walk - Avebury to Stonehenge.
I normally really, really hate asking people for money. But, on the other hand, I really like Help for Heroes. They provide support to members of the British Armed Forces who have been wounded in service including building recovery centres, providing housing and meals for visiting relatives, and supporting PTSD counselling.
And I'm pleased to be doing something slightly useful for once, in a good cause and in emulation of people I know like Tim and Mandy who routinely raise money for charity by undertaking challenging activities of this sort. (*)
If you'd like to kick in a few bucks or a couple of bob to help me reach my modest fund-raising goal for this very worthy organisation, or just more info, my sponsorship site is at:
There are also details on the walk itself here.
Many thanks for your support, in all forms.
(Here's a really great BBC video about the making of the song by the Rifles regiment as a tribute to their fallen.)
