Apparently your student population isn't pleased about paying ANYTHING for a higher education…

You're telling me! I had to run through those lazy bastards - and, bigger but also nicer, the enormous police presence - again today!
They should really either A) f%$ off back to class; or B) f%$ off to work so they can pay for their classes. The ones I saw all looked like 19-year-old wannabe hippies. Oh - and this sticks in the mind - there was the student organiser/marshal sporting his checked keffiyah: insurgent chic.

And those $*$#suckers managed to get Westminster Station closed. Which means I ultimately ended up walking about an effing mile last night with a laptop and running kit (today's my "work" from "home" day) - and a huge box with an entire tuxedo ensemble in it (xmas party tomorrow)!
$*$#suckers.
On the upside, the bill increasing the tuition fees passed.

Well, It's nice to see some good old violence against the system if you ask me. Royals fleeing for their lives from angry rioters warms my republican heart like nothing else! :>

They also tore the Union flag off the Cenotaph (the national memorial to all our war dead) - and pissed on the statue of Churchill. Plus wounded several police officers.
They're worthless punks. The universities should be closed and all these 'students' sent to rehabilitation camps. I weep for the country.
Republicanism is fine. But if our citizens engage in politics by setting things on fire, then we're just Mogadishu with monuments.
I'm going to publish this, if you don't mind.

Of course I don't mind. This is a good rant.
My glib comments aside, Wah, fucking wah. A bunch of whiney babies may wind up 14,000 Pounds in debt because they've purchased themselves a future. What's that, the cost of a Honda motorcycle over there? If they want to riot against the monarchy for the sake of rioting I'm all for it, but tying it to tuition increases - given what a college degree does for their future income - is absurd.

Agreed, for the most part. I do think there's an excellent argument to be made that investment in education is critical to the nation's future. But even more critical to our future is the health of democracy (aka politics by speech rather than violence), and the rule of law, plus civil society. Maybe I'm getting old. But I agree they're brats - no idea whatsoever how good they have it, compared to 95% of people alive today (and a much higher percentage of people historically).
Plus the Brown government spent all the money. A lot more than all the money. The grown-ups in the coalition government are putting the country back on a sustainable financial footing. The babies spitting out their dummies (American: pacifiers) and smashing things should not be involved in this, or any grown-up, activity.
