So I'm terrifically excited to announce the launch of the audiobook edition of my book D-Boys performed by Kevin Arthur Harper.
It is available now from:
This is so exciting for a variety of reasons. One is that it was done through ACX, an Amazon company that does for audiobook production and distribution what KDP did for e-books namely, liberates the content producer from traditional publishers. With ACX, an author puts up a project (i.e. book) and production, audio engineering, and voice talent guys can audition to produce the audiobook. Amazon/ACX take a cut of sales, but the rest and a lot more is left over than in a traditional audiobook publishing deal is divided between the maker of the novel and the maker of the audiobook.
The second reason is that shortly after I put my D-Boys books out to bid, they were picked up by the sensationally talented Kevin Arthur Harper. He not only did all the production and sound engineering but he also developed individual voices for all the characters, and performed the entire 10+ hours of audio. Listening to and reviewing these chapters was a treat I realised that an audiobook really occupies some middle ground between a written book and a film adaptation. It was like listening to a table-read by a really talented cast except with one person performing all the parts! And it was totally fantastic listening to all my characters brought to life.
Anyway, I think the result is terrific and Kevin absolutely deserves to do well with it, after the prodigious effort, talent, focus, and dedication he put into creating it. If you're not yet an Audible member, you can get the D-Boys audiobook for free when you become one.
